"This Song" is a song by English rock musician George Harrison from his 1976 album Thirty Three & 1/3. It was released as the first single from the album and reached number 25 on the American pop charts but failed to chart in the UK. Harrison wrote the song as a response to the copyright infringement suit launched against him over his early 1970s hit "My Sweet Lord". The lyrics use terminology associated with the court case and mention other song titles as a satirical comment on the notion of plagiarism in popular music. This song has nothing tricky about it This song ain&black or white and as far as I know Don&infringe on anyone©right, so This song, we&let be This song is in E This song is for you and This tune has nothing bright about it This tune ain&bad or good and come ever what may My expert tells me it&okay As this song came to me Unknowingly This song could be you could be, ooh This riff ain&trying to win gold medals This riff ain&hip or square, well-done or rare May end up one more weight to bear But this song could well be A reason to see That without you there&no point to this song Ooh, ooh But this song could well be A reason to see That without you there&no point to this song
