His New Job (1915) ➤ Review (GR)

An unemployed man comes to the office of the fictional Lockstone film studio to audition new actors. There also comes another half-drunk and cross-eyed applicant, with whom the unemployed man immediately begins to compete. Having successfully passed the audition, he gets a job and goes to the studio, where some historical drama with hussars and ladies is being staged. At first, he is sent to help a carpenter, but when one of the supporting actors quarrels with the director, the unemployed man is ordered to put on a hussar uniform in the dressing room and participate in filming. However, he prefers to play dice with a gambling carpenter first. Once on the set, he tries to get into character, knocks down the scenery, awkwardly deprives the prima ballerina of her petticoat, and generally commits many absurd acts.
