How to Create and Use Proxies in Premiere Pro In this Sixty Second Tutorial we cover how to create and use Proxies in Premiere Pro to speed up your editing workflow when working with large resolution footage such and RAW and H.265. We cover the following: - 1. If you are working with very high quality footage, such as 4K Raw or H.265 it can be very useful to use Proxies to help speed up your editing workflow. Proxies are a very low resolution copy of your footage that you can use in place of your full quality footage while you edit to reduce the processing demand on your computer. 2. To create Proxies, first select the footage in Premiere, right click and in the drop down menu go to ‘Proxy’ and click ‘Create Proxies’. 3. A new window will open and in here you can choose the format of your proxy, here we’ll select H.264 and Low Resolution option to keep the file size of the Proxy small and also we’ll keep the destination of ‘next to original media’ selected. 4. Click Ok and Adobe Media Encoder will launch and automatically load all your clips ready to create proxies. If it doesn’t start the encoding process automatically you may need to click the green triangle in the top right hand corner. 5. Once your Proxies have been created you can use the Toggle proxies button in Premiere to switch between using your full quality clip or the Proxy version as you edit. 6. You may need to add the ‘Toggle Proxies’ button to your program window if it’s not in your current workspace...
