REW microphone calibration

Often people ask themselves if they can use their YPAO or Audyssey microphones ( the ones that come with their Yamaha,Denon,Marantz,....receivers ) to measure their hometheatre room or listening position with REW . I will try to answer that question in this video by showing you the difference between a calibrated UMIK-1 and an uncalibrated YPAO microphone. I will also show how you can make a calibration file for your uncalibrated microphone if you can lend a calibrated UMIK-1 for a day. In the end you will see that even an uncalibrated YPAO or Audyssey mike is already pretty accurate for measurements under around 10kHz. It is however always better to make a calibration file as I show in the video
