How to install Modelsim FREE version (Intel FPGA edition) and Intel Quartus Prime

A simple tutorial for installing the FREE edition of Intel Quartus Prime and Modelsim Intel FPGA Edition. These tools provide a complete simulation and synthesis flow for Verilog and VHDL. Note: Quartus Prime Lite Edition 20.1.1 is the last version that has Modelsim. The 21.1 newer version has Questa which is an upgraded Modelsim version from the same company. Note: You may get the following warning "couldn&open transcript: permission denied" This is not an error, it is only a warning, and you can use Modelsim to run simulations even with this message occurring. If you really want to remove it go to the installation directory (C:intelFPGA0.1modelsim_ase) and edit the modelsim.ini file in Administrator mode. Change the TranscriptFile setting to a different path : TranscriptFile = C:intelFPGA_lite20.1modelsim_asetranscript
