IEVAN POLKKA | HARD but FUN Piano Version [Hand Crossing / Key Changes / Glissandi] - Paul Hankinso

I hope you enjoy my piano cover of Ievan Polkka - I wanted to make a really fun arrangement of this piece (which is also quite challenging to play!) If you enjoyed my version of "Wellerman" then I hope you&enjoy this piece too - it features hand crossing, key changes, glissandi and even a little ragtime! I love Loituma&version of this Finnish polka. It&so wonderful how this song continues to be reinvented and embraced by popular culture. There was Leekspin back in 2006 (the anime character Orihime Inoue from the Bleach series twirling a leek). Then followed various ringtone versions. Of course, the version you are probably familiar with is the amazing Turkish musician Bilal Göregen performing Ievan Polkka on a darbuka - which then went viral after the addition of the Vibing Cat / Cat JAM (along with Biden and Trump)! I¬ sure Eino Kettunen could have possibly imagined any of this when he wrote the lyrics to this traditional Finnish melody back in 1928!!
