Have you ever wanted to build your own smartwatch? Watchy, a product from a company called SQFMI, is the build-it-yourself kit for you. Watchy is a unique open-source smartwatch design based on an Arduino-compatible process. The e-paper display makes the watch face very readable in different conditions, and it&also very customizable. In fact, you log in to the watch through a browser. This allows you to upload firmware and load custom watch faces. There&a 200 mAh battery onboard that allows it to last up to a week. Amazing considering it also powers an accelerometer, vibrating motor, Bluetooth and WiFi radio too. The Watchy is very minimalist, but they do include a watch strap in the box. No, you won&be swimming or taking this on a workout due to the open design. But no one is stopping you from 3D printing a case for it. At around $50, the Watchy from SQFMI is a fun project you can share with the family. What do you think of the Watchy?
