Wu Shi is the initial form in the Meihua Quan Kung Fu (In Chinese 梅花拳 五势). Meihua Quan (Plum Blossom Fist) is one of the older and lesser known martial arts forms in China. It is also known as Meihua zhuang and it can be considered both a hard and soft style located somewhere between softer styles as Tai Chi and Bagua and the harder style of Shaolin. The distinguishing feature of Meihua is that beside on the ground it also can be practiced both on and between poles. Effectively all stances should be able to be performed on poles which can be quite high and typically have a diameter of about 8 cm and a spacing between the poles of 60 - 70 cm apart. There is a focus on internal workings in the body giving by the stances which are excellent for opening up the body and let the chi flow naturally through the body. Wu Shi is the basic form of Meihua quan and puts the 5 basic stances of Meihua together in a form. Each of the stances is related to one of the Chinese elements and has specific benefits for the body. In historic times disciples had to train Wu Shi exclusively and dedicated for many years before progressing to other &level&forms to gain a good foundation. If you are interested to see the the 5 stances`separately in detail you can watch it on one of my other videos:
