This guitar backing track is a Minor 12 Bar Blues to practice your Blues licks, scales and solos over and to work on your guitar improvisation skills. It is in the key of A Minor. It uses the classic standard 12 Bar Blues progression: | i | i | i | i | | iv | iv | i | i | | v | iv | i | v | You could build your guitar solo using the following scales: - A Minor Pentatonic Scale - A Blues Scale - A Minor Scale (Aeolian Mode) Some tips to improve your guitar solo over this jam track: As this is a Minor Blues, try to avoid hitting the major 3rd of the chords. A major 3rd over a minor chord progression will sound pretty rough. Emphasize the root notes, minor 3rds and minor 7ths instead. While the guitar and bass riffs are based on minor 7th chords, the organ in the background plays other extended chords. For example bars 3, 4, 7 and 8 are an Asus2. In bars 5 and 6 the organ is playing a Dsus4add9 chord. So don’t be shy about hitting other notes out of the A Minor Scale, It might sound better than you expected.
