Augustan Literature: An Overview of Main Figures and Works (British Studies 08)

Content of the lecture: A survey of some of the key figures of 18th-century literature and a brief introduction to their works. Presenter: Zénó Vernyik Description of the series: The video is part of a 14-week introductory survey course, "Culture II: British Studies," offered for students of the BA program "English for Education" at the English Department of the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic. The course&assigned textbook is Seán Lang&British History for Dummies (2nd edition), but while the lectures occasionally reference its content, familiarity with the book is not necessary for following (and understanding) the lecture, nor do the lectures replicate the content of the book in any sense. On the contrary, they are meant to provide information not covered in the book, or not in this much detail. Disclaimer: The presenter is not a specialist of the majority of periods covered, and this is an introductory course. Oversimplifications, shortcuts and minor inaccuracies occur. Efforts are going to be made to correct more serious inaccuracies.
