Владивостока времён интервенции 1918-1919 Vladivostok at the time of the "Intervention" 1918-1919 Here I present an album of photographs taken in Vladivostok between 1918 and 1919. The Entente Powers, Britain, USA, Canada, Japan and Italy together with China, had launched a military expedition to Vladivostok (and Northern Russia) at the beginning of the Russian Civil War. The initial goals of the expedition were to help the Czechoslovak Legions secure supplies of munitions and armaments in Russian Ports and to re-establish the Eastern Front aiding the RussianWhite Army whose objective was to overthrow the recently installed Bolshevik Government under Lenin. Allied efforts were hampered by divided objectives, lack of an overarching strategy, war weariness and a lack of public support. These factors, together with the evacuation of the Czechoslovak Legion and the deteriorating situation compelled the Entente Powers to withdraw from North Russia and Siberia in 1920, though Japanese forces occupied parts of Siberia until 1922 and the northern half of Sakhalin until 1925. Accompanying music: Overture from the "Gadfly Suite"by Dmitry Shostakovich
