Thomas The Tank Adventures toys are some of the most popular toys for young children. But these train toys have changed many times recently. I take a journey from the classic 1984 Paper Faced ERTL to Thomas Collectible Railway and this reveals just how much this small toy train has changed. In a strange way the price has not changed but what you get for your money has. Many will claim the ERTL Thomas was toy perfection, it&weak link was a poorly designed train coupling system. Then Learning Curve re-formatted Thomas die cast toys into a very distorted cute train that used clever magnets that worked both ways. These toys were known as Take Alongs and have proven to be some of the best small Thomas toys due to their robust design and ease of play. The early Take Alongs had lots of metal in their design, but that started to change and the front boiler became plastic. Take Alongs changed to Take And Play. Then Mattel started to make these toys. For a long time not much changed until the shock of a downturn of sales had Mattel re-invent the toys to appeal to the iPad generation. 2012 saw the last of the classic Take N Play Thomas and 2013 saw some major changes to the Take n Play Thomas. Many people started to ask where these changes needed or ever asked for. But the underlying reason for change was profit. The toys were being cheapened down.
