Canon XH-A1 review

My new HD video camera! The question I get is whether it shoots to tape or SD card. A: The XHA1 records to HD miniDV tapes only. There is a slot for an SD card but this is for storing custom presets and camera settings. I think it also uses the card to record still images but I have never tried it. You can also hook it up to a laptop and record direct to your hard drive with the right software (I use Adobe OnLocation). There are also devises such as the Firestore(?) which allow you to store directly to a portable drive or CF, but they are rather expensive. UPDATE: (10 months later)
