Stockard Channing and Aaron Tveit - 2009 Tony Awards

The best and most unexpectedly arousing segment from the 2009 Tony Awards (all of Liza&screen time notwithstanding)... weary television actress Stockard Channing and bright-eyed child Aaron Tveit attempt a forbidden seduction while performing a peculiar medley of "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," from "Pal Joey," and "I&Alive," from "Next to Normal," during the opening number. Please ignore the cowboy hat on the floor upstage center. This clip is primarily noteworthy for being the only 70 consecutive seconds of the show without any glaring mishaps, though it happens to be framed precariously between two of the Broadway season&most egregious blunders: the now famous Bret Michaels set piece fail immediately before, and "Shrek the Musical" (a general fail) immediately following. And btw, where was William Ivey Long&nomination for designing that stunning gown, that fur, and the rest of his fabulous costumes from Pal Joey? And then, to add insult to injury, the award goes to Shrek&sad sack collection of plastic bag Halloween outfits from Ricky&Biggest error of the night. Just sayin'.
