"I try to think of each new album as a project that will complement my existing recordings, which include many arias from baroque operas and motets, but not from Italian oratorio – apart from my first Warner Classics recording, Scarlatti’s Sedecia, Re di Gerusalemme," Philippe says. "That being said, I am very fond of oratorio as a genre, because I think composers of this period often give of their best when setting the great stories of the Old Testament.
