Full video of my piano and alto sax self-collaboration to Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage”. This timeless composition always takes me to my childhood, the age when we become self-aware, and begin the journey of leaving behind the fairy tales for the beauty and pain of real life. My sax solo interpretation starts with a transcription of George Coleman’s opening tenor lines (from the original Blue Note recording) before sailing into the uncharted waters of a beginning improviser.
