Massive Amazon Sword (E. bleheri) - Why Roots are Important

Here&a video of the Amazon Sword in my 10 gallon. I was going to remove it to prune the leaves and possibly split it. What I didn&expect was the massive root system involved in a plant of this size. Roots are very important to most stem plants. Roots allow a plant to collect nutrients from the substrate and also keep the plant stable.
