Distortion Ltd. In Focus: Orange Fur Coat Octave Fuzz

Romantic Vocal Revelations
The sound of a vintage octave-up fuzz exhibits a distinctive brand of gnarly. The octave content ads an element of sting and mid-range growl that the fuzz on its own does not have. Unfortunately, this effect is notoriously fickle. Not so with Orange&Fur Coat, however. Not only is the octave fully controllable, with a dedicated footswitch and level knob, but it tracks like a champ. The fuzz itself is beyond huge sounding, which should be no surprise given that its circuit was inspired by the Foxx Tone Machine, the king of burly vintage fuzz boxes. I love how well it works with all different kinds of instruments and pickups, and all manner of amps - dirty or clean, tube, solid-state, or virtual. Gear used: 80&Ibanez Roadstar PJ Bass Sansamp DI + Quilter Tone Block Frankenstrat with Dimarzio Area and Fender Lineage Red pickups Ibanez Destroyer with GFS Mean 90 pickups Gurus 5015 head 2x12 cab with Celestion G12H-100 speakers
