We demonstrated on a 2005 BMW X3 equipped with the 3.0 engine. This should be the same procedure for the 2004 and 2005 BMW x3 e83. The 2006 + models that are equipped with the n52 engine might differ a little bit. Always make sure that you use BMW oil full synthetic or Castrol Full Synthetic or Mobile 1. You can check you manual and see what standards the oil must meet so you can grab the right oil for it. BMW recommend for winter time to use 5w-30 and summer time 5w-40 oil. If you live north and it is cool all year around you should be perfectly fine with 5w-30 and if you live south you might use 5w-40. Always pull the dipstick and check your oil level when done.
