The GD family of Toyota engines was introduced into various vehicle models from 2015 with the identification codes 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV. As time has marched on, there are now some vehicles with these engines which are approaching or have exceeded 200,000 km. This is when VACC’s TechAdvisory Service starts to get questions from our members about replacing the vanes in the vacuum pump, which is a scheduled service item in the service book. This is where it gets tricky and possibly expensive. 2015-2022 Toyota Hilux 2015-2022 Toyota Fortuner 2015-2022 Toyota Prado 2017-2022 Toyota Hiace When you are looking at the service and warranty book for vehicles with this engine family, under the “Chassis and Body” section of the 200,000 km service schedule, you will see “Vacuum pump for brake booster (Diesel)”. Then when you read the footnote for this item, it states, “Replace the blades with new ones. Never reuse the blades”. This is when the calls to the VACC’s TechAdvisory Service start. VACC MotorTech members have access to an extensive technical information resource, a Technical Advisory Service and library staffed by experienced technicians, along with a comprehensive online resource, Tech Online, Tech Times Guide, Tech Estimate and Tech Talk magazine, plus online resources from Haynes - Haynes Pro and Haynes AllAccess, allowing you to repair and service more makes and models than your competition. #motortech
