A little tutorial on how to upgrade the Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro with a Geoptik 25mm shaft for EQ6 mounts. Even though the original 18mm counterweight shaft isn&too bad, I never felt that comfortable loading it with more than one of the 5kg weights. Yes, it is retractable and makes the mount very portable, but that mechanism also introduces a lot of wobble, which you don&want - especially if you use your EQ6-R Pro in a stationary setup. After upgrading to the Geoptik 25mm counterweight shaft, I noticed less wobble and flex, even when using 3 of the 5kg weights. Since you also need to buy 25mm weights or machine your existing ones, this upgrade is a bit on the expensive side, but it might be worth it if you are looking for that last bit of extra stability for your astro gear.
