Canon LIDE 400 - Code 2,156,33 - hardware/firmware error

A new(!) Canon LIDE 400 or 300 does not want to scan. The transport locking slider is unlocked (please check this first). Windows Software says "Code:2,156,33". Hamrick Vuescan says nothing but does not scan, too. Something behaves different compared to a proper working scanner: The scanbar always drives back to the backside of the scanner (the side with the USB socket). Usually the scanbar should wait under the calibration area which is on the side with the buttons. As far as i know the scanner itself has an hardware or firmware error. Please contact the Canon support in this case. They will replace the new scanner. Faulty scanners were sold for a while. Same problem with LIDE 300. Note: This only applies to new (unboxed and not working) scanners. At the moment I don&know any DIY solution.
