Sony PS-X800 Biotracer tonearm damping demonstration

Hello, I am a specialist in the repair, calibration, and optimization of vintage Straight Line Tracking (SLT) record playing turntables. THE VIDEO CAMERA: The video camera used for my videos is a Nikon Coolpix L830 with built-in L/R microphones. This camera has no provision for external microphones. THE DESCRIPTION: This short video is of a Sony PS-X800 Biotracer Straight Line Tracking direct drive turntable. The point of this video is to demonstrate the active damping properties of Sony&Biotracer tonearm technology. Although this video is of a PS-X800 SLT turntable, the same tightly damped control can be expected of any properly functioning actively damped tonearm technology including Sony&other Biotracer tables, some vintage Denon turntables, some vintage JVC turntables, etc. Tapping a conventional non-Biotracer or un-damped arm with this method would normally result in the arm skipping across the record and the cartridge suspension temporarily overloaded. However Biotracer technology senses the abnormal condition and very quickly delivers precisely metered power to motional feedback coils in the tonearm. The result is a smart tonearm that has tight control over unwanted vertical and horizontal motion up to about 400Hertz.
