Carl Maria von Weber: Aufforderung zum Tanz - Invitation to the Dance, Rondo Brillant for Piano, op. 65, arranged for Orchestra by Hector Berlioz McGill Symphony Orchestra Montréal, Violoncello-Solo: Marianna Grigg Alexis Hauser, Conductor, Sept. 21, 2019, Pollack Hall, Montréal, QC., Canada Live recording by Richard King Marianna Grigg, Principal Cellist of MGSO Montréal, was born in London, Ontario, and made her solo debut at age 16 with the London Community Orchestra. Her most recent solo performance was a recital that included works by J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, and Alexina Louie. She was selected as a member of the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and performed in their 2017 Edges of Canada tour, and their 2018 Migrations Tour. Marianna has appeared as principal cellist with the London Youth Symphony, the Western Symphony Orchestra, the London Community Orchestra, the Windsor Symphony, and the McGill Symphony Orchestra. With NYOC, she has performed in many venues across Canada, including La Maison Symphonique, Koerner Hall, the National Arts Centre, and internationally at the Young Euro Classic in Berlin, and the Edinburgh International Festival. Marianna graduated with an undergraduate degree in Music Performance from Western University under the direction of Thomas Wiebe. She was on the Dean’s Honour List and awarded with the University of Western Ontario Gold Medal, given to the student with the highest graduating average in their program. She is...
