GO BLUE! I had $700 in my pocket, a lot of ambition but not a clue what I wanted to be. That’s ok, ‘cause being me was enough. After waitressing and teaching Spanish for a few years, I won a karaoke contest and discovered my calling. I performed everywhere from the Bleeker Street blues clubs to uptown open-mics, where I met songwriting legends Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson at their world renowned “Sugar Bar.” They introduced me to Quincy Jones who mentored me into songwriting and crafting the beginnings of a solo career. My stage experience began to take form in legendary NYC cabaret clubs The Box, Duane Park, and Sleep No More. Subsequently, I was featured in the film John Wick I, on NBC’s The Voice SSN 11 (teammiley) and Brooklyn’s Afropunk Music Festival. These days, I’m starring as “Dusty Moonboots” in the Speigelworld production of OPIUM in Las Vegas until September of 2019.
