This is a part of a huge multinational musical palette that is invariably characteristic of this land. That common cultural heritage was almost destroyed in the 20th century by the Holocaust and the Soviet occupation. Jewish wedding musicians used to be called "klezmers". Of course, they played not only at Jewish weddings. So there was a constant musical interchange. The Ukrainian folk song "Yanchiku-Podolyanchiku" is a vivid example of such an exchange. We heard the influence of the klezmer tradition in it and strengthened it in our arrangement. And for best effect we sang one verse in Yiddish.
