A couple times a year I go to Mayne Island to do some photography and drone work for a client. It&such a beautiful place with a small friendly community. After the job, I took the opportunity to explore the cliffs, acres of forest land, and then finally the ocean. Unfortunately it wasn&such a picture perfect day. As I flew out to sea, I got way to confident exploring the ocean front properties. I went out farther than I thought and lost line of sight as I unknowingly went behind a hill of dense trees. My goggle signal dropped from almost full to instantly 0 freezing the screen. I quickly tried to boost some throttle and hit the GPS RTH button but after waiting 5 minutes the quad did not come home. I was totally thinking it might have tumbled into the ocean, but my transmitter said otherwise. It was still connected but drone was not moving and stuck at an altitude of 30 meters. I disarmed and thought there was still hope. I decided to go search for it even if it meant trespassing one of these ocean front properties or missing my ferry ride home. I looked at where I last crashed through the DVR of the goggles and also by checking satellite view of google maps, I guesstimated and drove to the closest street to the crash site. In a way I could have also looked at the longitude and latitude of the DVR to get a good estimate on where the quad crashed last too. As I got out of the car, the transmitter light turned green and reconnected to the drone! I then turned on the buzzer and...
