On this Episode I will be explaing the Cargo Tanks Safery Relief Systems on board [LNG Carriers] IS IBS and main Cargo Piping Systems. To protect cargo containment system from harmfull overpressure or underpressure at all times in accordance with the IMO Gas Code (IGC Code) requirement (Chapter 8), ALL cargo tanks are provided with a pressure relief system appropriate of the design of the cargo containment system and the cargo being carried. Hold spaces, interbarriers spaces and cargo piping which may be subject to pressures beyond their design capabilities are also provided with a suitable pressure relief system. Cargo tanks, including Deck tanks, are fitted with a minimum of two pressure relief valves (PRV&each being of equal size within manufacturrs tollerances and suitably designed and constructed for the prescribed service. Interbarrier spaces are also provided with pressure relief devices. The valve are of stainless steel pilot operated diaphragm type.
