After Effects CC 2020: Fractal Noise Effect This tutorial will show you how to create a gritty looping background using the Fractal Noise Effect in Adobe After Effects CC 2020. These types of looping backgrounds work great as overlays (changing the blend modes) and as backgrounds for text. You will learn to create 2 different versions: 1. Black background with white specks 2. White background with black specks ——————— To try or buy Adobe After Effects CC 2020: ——————— How To Create a gritty looping background using Fractal Noise 1. Open new composition 2. Add a New Layer Solid (Cmd + Y) 3. Go to Effects & Presets and search for Fractal Noise (it’s also in the Effect Menu under Noise& Grain) 4. Select the Solid Layer and drag the Fractal Noise Effect on the Comp Window 5. Play around with the settings to get the look and feel you want (see below for the settings I used in the tutorial) How To Animate the Fractal Noise Effect to create a looping background: 1. Twirl down Evolution Options 2. Hold the Option Key or Alt (Windows) and click on the stopwatch next to Random Seed 3. Enter the following two expressions in the timeline and adjust the numbers to taste. 4. Line 1 enter: posterizeTime(6); 5.
