Narcissus Golden Echo is one of the most strikingly coloured daffodils for the garden, with ivory-white petals fading to bright yellow at the base, and a bright yellow, long, cylindrical corona. It belongs to the group 7 of the daffodil classification (Jonquilla daffodils). It was raised by Brent C. Heath in Virginia, USA, and registered in 2014 by Brent and Becky&Bulbs, Virginia, USA. The seed parent is Narcissus Ballygarvey and the pollen parent is Narcissus jonquilla. The flowers of this daffodil show an amazing combination of colour, with tepals ivory white fading to yellow at the base of the tepal. Unfortunately the fragrance is not great, very pungent with notes of peppermint and liquorice. However, considering the beauty of its flowers, I would still recommend it as cut flowers, and looks absolutely great in the garden, with its vivid bicolour flowers, quite large. As usual for daffodils, the bulbs need to be planted in autumn in well drained soil, and the plant thrives in full sun or at least partial shade. In summer the foliage dies down and bulbs can either be lifted and divided, or left in place keeping them as dry as possible.
