Casio ProTrek PRW50 In Depth Review

This episode of the Good Timekeeping Show is an in-depth review of the Casio ProTrek PRW-50Y-1B, which uses Module 5620. These set-up instructions also apply to other versions of the PRW-50 and the PRW-60. The PRW-60 uses a different module (5578) but the features and functions are all the same. These watches each have Casio&Tough Solar power supply to keep the batteries charged automatically with normal exposure to normal lighting conditions during daylight hours. They have Multi Band 6 atomic time reception to automatically keep them set to the correct time every day. They have Casio&Triple Sensor Version 3, which includes a compass, a thermometer and a barometer, which is used both to show barometric pressure readings and to calculate altitude measurements. The Triple Sensor readings can be displayed in metric or non-metric values (meters/feet, C/F, etc.). The user can also record altitude readings for later review or to track altitude changes while climbing and hiking. These watches also feature five daily alarms, an hourly chime, a 24-hour stopwatch, a countdown timer (up to 60 minutes) and a World Time mode to display the time in another time zone anywhere in the world. The analog display features an hour, minute and second hand which can each move independently to quickly display time changes and to display other non-timekeeping functions.
