Filmed December 16, 2022 While chasing the Rocklin Rocket, I had planned to get a video exclusively of the run-around siding being used at Nimbus with a train as it turns around to head back west here on the Union Pacific Placerville Branch. This part of the UP Placerville Branch is planned to be removed due to the Sacramento Regional Transit Gold Line Folsom Double Tracking Project part of the Modernization Project. A new runaround siding will be built closer to Schnitzer Steel but will be a smaller siding which means cutting half the train down at the other siding near Nevada Cement will become permanent after the new siding is built near Schnitzer Steel. With that new siding, the freight track also will be moved over to be spaced 20 feet from the new light rail track to be put in. Construction is planned to start between January and early March in this section of the project. A non-railroad related project has already started on the south side of the tracks in some of Aerojet&sold property to the Easton Development Company which is the construction in the background at the end. This project also involves a new railroad crossing on the SACRT Gold Line named Atlanta Ave with will also be part of the Hazel Ave extension project also to connect with Folsom Blvd as Hazel will be an overpass over Folsom Blvd and the tracks and will remove the Nimbus Rd crossing. Another crossing I seen is planned also but not approved yet which will be located close to the future new siding....
