In my eyes, horses are sovereign souls with deeply emotional inner and social lives. They are not simply tools for humans to use and dispose of when they no longer «work». Horses are a LIFE LONG commitment like any other pet. We don't give away our dogs and cats because they're too old, we care for them into their old age, and show them all the love they have given us. Almost all the horses I take in are seniors who were going to be euthanized because of the inconvenience taking care of an older horse presented to its former owner. Running this Sanctuary costs a huge amount of money every single month, and donations are few and far between for me.
