They lives in typically warmer waters and mostly found in the Indo-Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. They can grow up to nearly 10 feet but their average size is 3 to 4 feet long. Despite these great lengths, the worms are slim, with the body only about 25.5 millimeters wide. The body is covered by a hard exoskeleton. In addition, the species also displays rather bright colors, most commonly including shades of bright purple. Most of the long body remains buried in the sand, mud or gravel where it lives.
