A short acoustic comparison of two Dowina dreadnought western guitars. One, the Chardonnay, is of the Vintage series, providing a solid top and solid back and sides, whereas the other, the Rustica of the Antique series has a solid top and laminated back and sides. Furthermore, the Chardonnay has a solid Italian Alpine spruce top and electronics on board whereas the Rustica has a solid Canadian Red Cedar top. Some of you guys already know my enthusiasm for Dowina guitars. When I saw the 2016/2017 edition of the Chardonnay with its solid American walnut back and sides, I immediately fell in love with it. Fortunately I could compare it with a Rustica for this video. I think, the difference because of the different top wood is quite noticeable. Red cedar produces a softer, slightly darker tone.
