Edit Mode When in Edit mode, an object&origin remains fixed. As any transformations, such as move, will still move the contents of the object, separation can be created between the object and its origin. Object Mode In the upper right corner of the 3D Viewport is an Options drop down menu that contains a "Transform - Affect Only - Origins" checkbox. When active, any transformations, such as move, will only target the origin. Don&forget to uncheck this option when done with it.
