Novation Launchkey: Making Track from Scratch

In this video, we create track from scratch, finishing with fully built-out song, utilising all of Launchkey&creative features and stock plugins available in Ableton Live Lite. Starting with chords to establish tone of track, Rob uses Scale Mode and Chord Map to inspire melodic chord progressions. He progresses track by adding bass, then introduces lead melody to work with and enhance chords. Using performance modifiers, he transforms chords by separating notes into melodic lines, while drums bring track all together, with help of Launchkey&onboard Sequencer, making programming percussion easy. Rob also uses Arpeggiator to create melodic line that sits on top of track. Watch to end of this video, where Rob performs live with Ableton&clip launching, to arrange elements in live setting. He offers tips on performing and jamming live with Launchkey and Ableton, including using encoders to adjust plugin parameters in real time and creating sweeping transitions that energise arrangement.
