Sezen Aksu - Kutlama

Credited with laying the foundations of modern Turkish pop music, Sezen Aksu released her first single in 1975 under the name of Sezen Seley, and scored her first number one hit in her home country the following year. Following her second marriage she adopted her husband&surname "Aksu", retaining it after they parted, and continuing to do so through two further marriages. Termed by the Guardian as the "undisputed queen of contemporary Turkish music", Sezen has now sold more than 50 million albums and uses her fame to help promote the causes for which she has great passion. These include misogyny, illiteracy, discrimination, bullying and homophobia. "Kutlama" (meaning "Celebration"), with music by Grammy Award winner Arto Tunçboyaciyan and lyrics by Sezen, is an infectious selection that both highlights her vocal flexibility and snatches of musical influences of severa European lands.
