Tulip Red Princess is a double flowered tulip, bright red, up to 30 - 40 cm tall. It is quite a common variety, easy to find in garden centres as well as online. Tulip Red Princess is hardy in USDA 3 to 8 and the bulbs need to be planted in autumn, about 10-15 cm deep in well drained soil, ideally in full sun. The leaves start growing in late autumn - winter and this variety will bloom in mid-spring (usually late April - early May in the UK). Like all tulips, the leaves die down in late spring - early summer, when the plant goes dormant, until autumn.
