(This Karl Hofner Germany violin is a 3/4 size instrument. Discovered by Schnefsky at a Fleamarket it was deemed to be worth restoring to playing condition. Inside it has a glued in Bassbar and blocks on the bottom bout corners. The top had some cracks that needed to be glued and strengthened with cleats, but none of the cracks were in critical places. The KH label inside is the old style Karl Hofner label, not the new style, so it is possible that it predates 1950. Schnefsky repaired the splits, dressed the fingerboard, glued the open seams, added new pegs and 4 fine tuners on a vintage tailpiece, and a new bridge. After cleaning it was given some light coats of oil varnish to protect it. It has has a very clear tone as shown by Jeff Taylor who is Schnefsky&teacher at the Bradford Academy of Music. Jeff is a professional musician and teacher based in Toronto Canada.
