Founded in 2003 by long-time AIDS activist Leigh Blake and co-founded by 14-time Grammy® Award winner Alicia Keys, Keep a Child Alive was born out of outrage over the injustice of children and families dying due to a lack of access to drugs that were widely available in wealthier countries. The organization&focus has been to raise global awareness about the urgent and unmet need for HIV treatment in sub-Saharan Africa, and to grant funds to community-based organizations to provide free, life-saving treatment to keep children living with HIV from needlessly dying. Ten years later, Keep a Child Alive&core mission is unchanged.
