Rimsky-Korsakov 'Dubinushka' - Stokowski conducts

Rimsky-Korsakov orchestrated this traditional folk-song after he&heard students singing it in Moscow during the 1905 revolutionary uprising throughout Russia. The &performance heard here is the only extant recording of the piece conducted by Stokowski. It is featured in a recent 2-CD set of Russian music released by &Editions&which also includes the very last concert Stokowski conducted in the USA in 1972. In this concert, music by Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich was played by the American Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, New York.
