Which roll for me? Foundations In this lesson we discuss why we might choose to use a sweep or C-C roll. A C-C roll is a very dynamic roll that requires us to get our body up to the surface, this needs quite a bit of flexibility and a very reliable hip flick. A sweep roll is a little more forgiving and can help if we don&have as much flexibility or maybe our hip flick isn&quite as polished. The sweep roll is very popular and is quite a reliable roll once we have learnt it. We might also see some types of roll where we finish on the back deck a little more. This can make the roll feel a little easier but does put is in a more vulnerable body position once we have rolled up. Many Greenland style rolls will use a layback finish, the type of boat really helps here as they have a very low back deck.
