Barber&Adagio for Strings has been referenced in pop culture countless times (almost to the point of absurdity) mostly to elicit and perpetuate feelings of despair and gut wrenching anguish. As a result of its clichéd use, Adagio for Strings has also been used in parodies, poking fun at the fact that the piece is so easily recognizable as the archetypal soundtrack for anything of epic sadness.
