DOOM (2016) Fix for Corrupt Save Files

This shows how to fix the corrupt save file issue in DOOM (2016) on PC, which happened to me towards the end of the Argent Energy Tower map. Only progress in the current map will be lost rather than having to start the game again. The fix takes advantage of a menu bug that allows you to load into an empty world. Hopefully this will help others resolve this issue without having to enable dev mode and forego unlocking of achievements. Remember to back up first.
