This test was acquired by NHTSA with permission of EUCAR and TRL Laboratories. Test 08LF was a Full-Overlap Frontal Impact of a Volkswagen Polo MkIII at 56 km/h into a 150mm depth deformable barrier. The test was carried out by TRL on behalf of EUCAR on the 26th of May 2000. The vehicle tested was LHD with driver and passenger airbags. Load cells positioned behind the deformable barrier recorded the applied force. The Volkswagen Polo was instrumented with accelerometers at various locations, predominantly around the front of the vehicle, to allow forces, velocities and displacements to be calculated. The driver dummy was a fully instrumented Hybrid III and the passenger a makeweight. Occupant Readings: Driver Only HIC36 681 Chest Compression (mm) 52.2 Chest G&59.8 Femur Loads (kN - L/R) 3.01/4.11 The driver dummy failed the EEVC limits on the following criteria • Chest compression was 52.22mm compared to a limit of 50mm • RHS Tibia compression force was 8.19kN compared to a limit of 8kN
