Until my new music is ready for release later this year, I want to share some of my previous work on Mondays and Fridays here on this channel. Today&selection is "Eyes Wide Open." I wrote Eyes Wide Open in 2014 as a favor to a friend who asked me to score his short film. I remember spending 2 solid weeks on the music and thinking it was the biggest waste of time I&ever committed to simply because the music felt so similar throughout - monotonous. I played the score for a few friends to get their opinions - perhaps I was wrong about my judgment... One of them fell asleep while listening and the other interrupted the music to tell me about his day. Things were not looking good... I told Brooke (now my wife) I needed her help recording some vocals - something to lift the whole thing...and I&glad she said yes - there&so much life in her voice. A week later I was visiting friends in Seattle and I recorded a small cello ensemble there - the strings brought out an entirely new dimension. It¬ until now - 9 years later - that I can listen back and appreciate the little details in this piece...details that I wish were present in my current music. I sometimes wonder what&happened to my writing - "have I fallen asleep?" Eyes Wide Open was simply me having fun. When I hear it, I smile. It&an invitation to return to the childlikeness I use to approach music with. Cello - Jeram John & The Seattle Symphony Quartet Vocals - Tony & Brooke Anderson Drums - Jeremy Weldon Mixed by Ryan...
