P0036 - On 2006 Hyundai Tucson limited Location of o2 sensor on 2006 Hyundai Tucson limited and how to remove. The tool to remove the o2 sensor can be purchased for under $10 at Harbor Freight. Get the car up on a ramp or jack stands, get under the car, to about mid way between both tires you will see the o2 sensor with a wire running up past the alternator. To disconnect the sensor come from the top of the engine above the alternator, you should see / feel the connector. Push the tab in, and lift upward using medium force. The male end will be tabbed on to a piece of plyable metal. Keep pulling on the male end connector it should eventually come off. It may take a few pulls and will be stubborn to remove. Lastly disconnect the wire retention clips. These you will just have to brute force pull since you won’t be able to see them or if you are capable get some pliers to close the clips then pull through. I was able to fix this by unscrewing the o2 sensor then reseating it. I did not have to replace the sensor which implies my wiring may be loose on the sensor. The check Engine line shutoff after reconnecting the battery and starting the car.
