Windows Media Center | Startup Sounds [2002 - 2015] Windows Media Center is an app/software included in Microsoft Windows (until Windows 10 which did not include it) that was a DVR and Media Player. It was first introduced in 2002 with the release of Windows XP Media Center Edition. Sadly the service is no longer officially supported and is discontinued due to decreased usage. The software was last included in Windows 8.1.
