Uebelmannia Pectinifera || Endangered Tropical Cactus

Received this beautiful Uebelmannia pectinifera from Planet Desert! This is a species of plant in the Cactaceae family. It is a tropical cactus and is endemic to Brazil. Its natural habitats are dry savanna and rocky areas. It is threatened by habitat loss and is listed as endangered. Uebelmannia pectinifera is a solitary cactus that can grow up to 50 (-80)cm tall. It is dark reddish-green to reddish-brown, with off-white scales. In cultivation the color depends on sun exposure and if grown in shadow, it will result green with white stripes while the ones in full sun take on a dark frost brown or purple color! Flowers: Diurnal, funnel-shaped greenish yellow. They are 15 mm long, and 12 mm in diameter. Blooming season: Flowers come sporadically from early Spring to late Summer.
